MAC have once again created another lust worthy limited edition collection, this time inspired by the art of textile designer Vera Neumann. If ever a makeup collection was made for crafters and fabric hoarders, this is it!
Vera is considered to be a pioneer in the design field, who in the 1940's translated her works of art into colourful, cheerful prints that adorned fabrics, scarves and accessories. Vera started her business with her husband in their tiny kitchen, creating place mats using their handmade silk screen printing press.
During WWII Vera was the first designer to create the signature scarf, using surplus parachute silk because linen was too hard to source at the time! These "Vera Scarves" became hugely popular (especially with the celebs of the time, including Marilyn Monroe and Grace Kelly) and officially launched Vera's design career.
Vera's signature is bright, happy colours paired with bold brushstrokes. Her cheerful work embodies many of the features of certain decades, especially the 60's and 70's, yet still remains completely timeless.

MAC have created a collection that embodies Vera's joyful prints, featuring mainly pop colours in pinks and purples. They have also created amazing shimmering Crushed Metallic Pigments ($75), three sets of four stackable jars of pigment which you can use as an eyeshadow or as a highlighter for your face and body. All of the pigments resemble the bright colours featured in Vera's artworks.

My pick of the collection however is definitely the Pearlmatte Face Powder ($47). Each compact is embossed with Vera's signature ladybug motif and are, quite frankly, too pretty to actually use!

Have a beautiful week!
