Makeup Monday: MAC at Fashion Week

MAC Cosmetics have released their new makeup collection, but instead of creating brand new products for us to swoon over MAC have selected the seven products their makeup artists would be lost without during the major fashion week shows. In honour of the collection I thought I'd pick out some of the coolest looks MAC has created so far this year (Warning: don't try some of these looks at home!)

MAC for Vivienne Westwood Red Label London Fashion Week S/S 12
Beautiful brights at Vivienne Westwood. Use a shimmery sea foam green eye shadow on your eyelids to get this magical look (without looking like one of those fairy's that perform at children's parties).

MAC for Jason Wu at New York Fashion Week S/S12
The tangerine lips were the standout at Jason Wu's show. MAC artist's used the Scarlet Ibis lipstick from Iris Apfel's limited edition collection for the brand. A classic makeup look!

MAC for Mary Katranzou London Fashion Week S/S 12
Cyanotic lips were big at Mary Katranzou's London show, a look later copied by Lady Gaga (check out her Marry the Night video). Not a look to try in real life unless you want random strangers to attempt CPR on you.

MAC for Prabal Gurung S/S 12
Peacock inspired brights stood out at Prabal Gurung. Try lining your eyes with an electric blue eyeliner to achieve a more friendly every day look.

MAC for Moschino at Milan Fashion Week S/S 12
The classic smoky eye never goes out of fashion, although I would advise less of the under eye smudginess to avoid the raccoon look in real life.

MAC for Jason Wu Autumn 2012
Gorgeous shimmering greens and blues blended to perfection at Jason Wu. This can be a bit tricky to pull off, but a single wash of colour looks just as pretty!

Of course, being fashion week a lot of the looks are way-out-there and crazy, but isn't that why it's so much fun? The MAC at Fashion Week collection is actually very user friendly and consists mostly of primer products and soft colours. My picks are ever-famous Strobe Cream ($55) a light shimmery cream that illuminates your skin, Fix+ ($27) a calming aqua spritz that helps set your makeup and finally the Lipmix ($25) lipgloss in a shiny red hue.

Do you have any favourite looks from a particular fashion week?

Have a beautiful week!

xoxo Lauren

  1. Totally agree with you on the smokey eye look. I usually lay it on thick for my upper lids and then apply it lightly on the bottom. Love the tangerine lips!
