Bobbi Brown is one of my favourite makeup artists, mainly due to the fact that she urges women to embrace any so-called "imperfections" they believe they have, and instead of hiding them to actually play them up instead- because it's our differences that make us beautiful. Pretty awesome to hear in a perfection-obsessed society, no?
Bobbi's latest collection is particularly lovely as it is a mixture of pop bright colours and her signature classic neutrals. It's great for the colour-shy because you can stick to wearing, say, your nude eyeshadow but splash out with a bright pink lipstick for something new. Or you could give the neutral eye a rest and experiment with the gorgeous jewel toned Ultra Violet Shimmer Wash eye colour, finished with a slick of winged black liquid eyeliner instead. It's a super easy way of giving your makeup bag a shake up and avoiding the same-makeup-colours-everyday rut.
If the seriously bright colours freak you out, then just go for a slightly subdued version instead. Try a tinted gloss like the Ultra Violet or Cosmic Pink Lip Gloss that still gives you some colour, but just a less in-your-face variety.
I also highly recommend Bobbi's books, as they feature normal women and makeup techniques you can actually use in real life. She has written several books focusing on all ages. For the teens there's Teenage Beauty, for the more mature ladies there is Beauty Evolution and the books for all ages are Living Beauty, Beauty Rules and Makeup Manual.
Have a beautiful week!
